I've seen nothing to indicate that the television series Thriller is in the public domain.

I checked two episode and found copyright renewals:

Man in the middle; motion picture. By Hubbell Robinson Productions, Inc.
Type of Work: Motion Picture
Registration Number / Date: RE0000397958 / 1988-10-17
Renewal registration for: LP0000021870 / 1960-12-20
Title: Man in the middle; motion picture. By Hubbell Robinson Productions, Inc.
Series: Thriller, TP14105
Copyright Claimant: Universal City Studios, Inc. (PWH)

Variant title: Man in the middle
Names: Hubbell Robinson Productions, Inc.
Universal City Studios, Inc.

Mark of the hand; motion picture. By Hubbell Robinson Productions, Inc.
Type of Work: Entry not found.
Registration Number / Date: RE0000397944 / 1988-10-17
Renewal registration for: LP0000019104 / 1960-10-04
Title: Mark of the hand; motion picture. By Hubbell Robinson Productions, Inc.
Series: Thriller, TP14106
Copyright Claimant: Universal City Studios, Inc. (PWH)

Variant title: Mark of the hand
Names: Hubbell Robinson Productions, Inc.
Universal City Studios, Inc.

In addition, it's obvious that a public domain series hosted by Boris Karloff would be sold by Alpha Video.

Video-Cellar said that it is the only p.d. episode, and no renewal can be found for it.

No.

You definitely did not.

You said:

"The only episode of Thriller is The Return of Andrew Bentley which Ia has."

You did not say:

"The only public domain episode of Thriller is The Return of Andrew Bentley which Ia has."

You made it sound as though only one episode of Thriller is in existence.

Does that not suggest that anything not sold by Alpo Video should be removed from the Internet Archive? This would be a very restrictive policy.
Perhaps if the domain name was redirected to their servers it would save time.

If a person isn't going to check for a copyright renewal, and he isn't going to ask in the forum about the copyright status, then he must at least make sure that Alpha Video sells the film.

There is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for uploading a video when there is no evidence that it is public domain.
